Warm White & RGBW
Warm White LED Lights
With Full Color Built In
Every Gemstone Lights® light pairs red, green and blue with its own warm-white diode. These warm white LED lights look like soft evening light on North Atlanta brick and siding, and full color is still there for the holidays.
Why it matters
A Dedicated Diode for Warm White
Regular color-changing lights carry only red, green and blue diodes, so any white they show has to be mixed from those three colors.
Gemstone Lights add a fourth diode just for warm white, at 2800K to 3000K. That gives brick, siding and trim a soft, welcoming glow instead of a mixed white.
Warm white LED lights built this way suit soft ambient light every month of the year. See how they trace a roofline on the architectural lights page.
Lights Off, Lights On
Drag the handle to compare the same home at dusk, first with its roofline lights off and then switched on.
RGB, RGBW and RGBWW Explained
The letters name the diodes inside each LED. The last W is the one that matters for a warm glow.
| RGB | RGBW | RGBWW (Gemstone Lights) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Red, green and blue diodes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| A separate white diode | No | Yes | Yes |
| True white without mixing colors | No | Yes | Yes |
| Dedicated warm-white diode (2800K–3000K) | No | No | Yes |
| Used in Gemstone track, landscape and patio lights | No | No | Yes |
RGBW adds a white diode; RGBWW makes that diode warm white specifically. We say RGBW in the page title because it is the term most people search for.
Inside each light
Three LEDs, Twelve Diodes
Each Gemstone Lights track light holds three LEDs, and each LED has four diodes: red, green, blue and warm white. Those twelve diodes let a track light mix more than 16 million colors while still producing a clean warm white on its own. Landscape and patio lights also offer over 16 million colors, each with a dedicated warm-white diode.
Brightness runs from 0 to 100 percent, for the whole house or light by light. Dimming individual lights is how you balance a bright gable against a shaded porch, or give a stone front some shadow and depth.
The architectural warm white folder in the pattern library is a customer favorite, and a good place to start.
Christmas
Warm White Christmas Lights, Without the Ladder
A warm-white roofline is the classic Christmas look. A dedicated warm-white diode at 2800K to 3000K gives you that traditional glow from the same lights you use all year.
Because the same lights handle color, you are not locked in. Run warm white all December, switch to red and white for a candy-cane week, or go full multicolor on Christmas Eve, then return to everyday warm white in January.
See the holiday options on the permanent Christmas lights page, or how the same system works every other month on year-round lighting.

Warm White & RGBW FAQs
The warm-white glow sits between 2800K and 3000K. That is the soft, slightly golden range most people picture when they think of a welcoming porch or a traditional Christmas roofline.
RGBW lights add a white diode to red, green and blue, which gives a truer white than RGB alone. RGBWW lights make that extra diode warm white. Gemstone Lights use RGBWW, so warm white comes from its own diode instead of being mixed.
Yes. The red, green and blue diodes are in every light as well, so you can mix crisper, cooler whites in the app when you want them and go back to warm white afterwards. Brightness is adjustable from 0 to 100 percent.
It should not. Gemstone’s warm white sits at 2800K to 3000K, and the same lights can mix whites all the way to 7000K daylight if you prefer something crisper. If you want it softer still, dim the lights or individual sections in the app.
Yes. Patio lights and landscape lights pair full color with a dedicated warm-white diode, just like the track lights, so everything matches when it runs from one app.
